A Beautiful Picture
The Picture of Dorian Gray is a haunting piece of work because long after you finished reading, the lines, the words and the imagery keep on resonating in your mind. And I think this is very normal because the longing for eternal youth and immortality are somewhat common in every human being. But people seldom think about the possible consequences of such a condition. This is also what makes this book special. Wilde portrays the degradation of Dorian Gray masterfully and at times with a poetic touch. We can witness the change of his persona from naive and excited to guilty and cold. However, another character in the book, Harry, amazed me more than Dorian Gray. He is somewhat the creator of Dorian and his thoughts are more striking.
